From as early as the newborn stage, vision remain as the primary sense for children to learn and discover the world. 80% of a child’s learning occurs through the eyes. Unlike adults, children are unaware that their vision may NOT be normal. A routine examination and subsequently, early detection of any eye disorders are crucial for early intervention.

What to look out for?

  • Red or watery eye
  • Light sensitivity
  • Frequent blinking or rubbing eye
  • Eye squinting
  • Tilting or turning head
  • One or both eyes look different
  • Shutting one eye
  • One eye turns in a different direction to the other
  • Getting close to TV, books or computer
  • Headaches
  • Sore or tired eyes

When to bring my child in for a children’s eye consultation?

  • Between ages 4 – 6 years old: before the child commences primary school
  • Children ages 6 – 18 years old: once a year
